Valentine's Day Cake Pops

With Valentine's Day coming up there are all sorts of yummy creations out there. I wanted to do something I hadn't seen before so I decided to do Sweetheart Cake Pops. Let me tell you it was difficult but they turned our pretty good and tasted delicious. I made them for a client for her Bunko party and is sounds like all the woman LOVED them! Here is how I made them....

First I cooked the chocolate cake mix, let it cool, then mix it up with chocolate frosting...
Then I formed the mixture into hearts....
While they were in the fridge getting hard I got all the melts ready....
I melted the white chocolate and stuck each heart with a stick with melted chocolate on it, this is the consistency you want your melted chocolate to be at.....
After letting the pop chill a bit with the stick in it I then took them out one by one from the fridge and dipped them into the chocolate, then held them up right until they hardened....
Once they were all dipped and hard I then melted red chocolate and used a squeeze bottle to write cute words on each.....
One turned out like this, like I said, they were difficult, but the hubby enjoyed this one....
The rest turned out like these ones...
I then placed them all in a cute red take out box for display....

Orange Gooooodness

Based on my last post you saw that I was actually able to make something without having to do it more then once to get it right! I was also able to make some yummy cake balls to go with the yummy Oreo pops for my nephew's 2nd Birthday party! My sister-in-law let me use some of her orange extract (powerful stuff) to flavor the orange chocolate melts so it kept within the orange flavor theme. I wasn't too happy with the outcome of the consistency of the melts but it still worked to say the least. Next time I flavor my melts I am going to have to use an oil based flavoring. Here are some pictures from the party!

Creamsicle Obbsession!

I must admit I do not like creamsicle flavored anything, BUT my husband does, and when he found creamsicle oreos at Walmart the other day I was inspired to try out oreo pops for the first time! I have seen other websites have pictures of oreo pops or just plain chocolate covered oreos and I actually looked up how much it would be to order these amazingly made oreos by sweetiesbykim but then the price was just too much, so I decided that I am going to try to make my own! Like I said before, I am going to make cake pops for my nephews 2nd birthday party this weekend but now I have decided to surprise my sister-in-law (which probably wont end up being a surprise because she reads this blog) by making creamsicle oreo pops or, if I am unsuccessful at the pop part, just plain chocolate covered creamsicle oreos! I am planning on making orange pops with white sprinkles and then reversing it with the oreos by making white oreos with orange sprinkles! I hope it all works out!

Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops!

As I said before my wonderful Sister-in-law bought me Bakerella's Cake Pop book and I decided to try my hand at the Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops for my niece's birthday party and I must admit I did a pretty good job! I thought, based on last times attempt, that it was going to be super hard and disappointing. However I was wrong! It worked out perfectly because I didn't need to use the sticks (which was the main difficulty the first time) and the cake ball itself rested perfectly on top of the sugar cone! They are perfect for the party and I could not be any happier with the end result! Check them out!

I was planning on just doing cupcakes BUT I think now I might make a mini dessert table for the 4th! Here are some more finds that I will incorporate into my mini 4th of July dessert table!

Cake Pops are Popping Up!

If you haven't heard about cake pops yet...where in the world have you been?! Ever since Starbucks introduced their cake pops people have been raving about them. Therefore I thought, what is a dessert table without cake pops? So I went to bakerella to find out how to make them, they seemed easy enough, however recently I have discovered a company, thebabycakesshop.com that has a product that makes them without all the hard work! So I bought one, of course! I got it in the mail today and I made donuts right away. Why donuts you ask? Well, I didn't have all the ingredients for cake and to tell you the truth I am leaving tomorrow morning for Vegas and I didn't want to have tons of cake pops sitting around for the kids, I mean cats, to eat! So I made a small batch of donuts to try out the product and it worked magically! I love it to say the least!

Some over-flow but perfectly round donut holes!
Sugar & cinnamon goodness!

Getting back to why I bought this awesome product. I thought that cake pops would be a perfect treat to add to my Mom's dessert table. I am planning on making the cake pops to look like sunflowers, which is her favorite flower. I wanted to go a step further to make the cake pops look like they are in flower pots. So I bought 2 ceramic pots from Walmart (only .84 cents each) along with some fake moss ($2.50) and green floral foam ($2.00). I stuffed each pot with the floral foam and then hot glue gunned the green moss on top of the foam to make it look like grass in a flower pot. After making each cake pop I will place around 5 or 6 in each pot to look like blooming sunflowers! I am really excited to see how it turns out but so far I can just show you the pots! I plan on making some sort of sign on each pot that says something along the lines of, "sunflowers" or "pick me".

So for around $1.50 for each pot I think it makes for a cute embellishment to go towards my Mom's dessert table! I cant wait to see the finish product!
